John Webb Obituary

John McDonald Webb
71, passed away June 27 in MarinCounty, after a long illness. A native ofMinneapolis, Minnesota, John movedwith his family to Pasadena, Californiain 1941, and then to Texas in 1949where he attended the University ofHouston, obtaining a degree in Advertising. John then embarked on a lifelong career in advertising includingseveral years with Grove Valve andCompany in Houston. He later movedto the Bay Area where in 1973 hefounded Webb and Associates, whichwent on to become the largest advertising agency in Contra Costa Countyduring the late 1970s.
John was drawn to the Bay Area byhis lifelong love of sailing. His greatestjoy was to race sailboats, and he competed successfully in countless regattas over the years, ranging from dingyracing, to series racing in the SanFrancisco Bay. John also competed inocean races, including the HawaiianTranspac. He was also passionateabout photography, travel, and restoring vintage sports cars.
John is survived by his wife, Judy;his children, Suzanne Webb of Houston Texas; John Webb and his wife,Kim, grandchildren James, Jason andBrandon of Lafayette, California; Kimand Belynda Webb of San Francisco;stepchildren Scott and Eliza Haskins ofSan Francisco; John Haskins of MossLanding, California. He is also survivedby his first cousin, Jolley White.
