In the obit you mention Don and Marion being celebrities at local restaurants. I recall running into them at Del Rio in Highwood. They went there for dinner after the 5 P.M. Mass on Saturday nights almost every week. I once asked Don why it was among their favorites, and he said: ""they make a good stiff drink", and we both laughed about that. We counted the collection together on Monday mornings after the early Mass. Both ND grads, we would argue about politics and religion while we counted. It was fun to be with him. And now that I am on the cusp at 88, I look forward to seeing him in the heavenly Del Rio.

Dear Potter Family,
I was in Indianapolis visiting my father, Joe Quill (Cathedral H.S. '39, Notre Dame '47, '48), when I read about Don's passing in the Indianapolis Star. Don and my dad played basketball together at Cathedral and also were friends with Herb Melton who was in the law school with my dad and was the fencing coach at ND. (Herb also married Coach Leahy's secretary:)) I cannot express how deeply saddened Dad was to hear of Don's passing, remembering what a good friend, talented athlete and academic he was. I know he enjoyed seeing Don through the years at Cathedral and ND reunions. Dad also shared Don's birthday although Don was a year younger than he. He was honored to host Don's granddaughter, Michelle, in our home over 20 years ago when she was travelling through with one of the ND choral groups. He wanted me to send special condolences to Don's widow. May God's peace be with you.
Adrienne Quill (Cathedral '85, ND '89)

Donald Potter's legacy will live on for generations through the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who mattered deeply to him. He made a meaningful difference during his life and will always be looked at as a man who loved his family and lived well. The spirit he infused into 250 Franklin Road remains. Condolences to all the Potters far and wide.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. Don was a mentor to me when I joined the SH Finance Committee, and he has always been one of my heroes. May he rest in peace.
