Dorothy Gray Obituary

Dorothy Wilmoth Gray "Dolly James" 101 years Resident of Oakland, California Dorothy was born on October 14, 1909 in Oakland California, where she was a resident for 90 years. She passed away on June 22, 2011 in Danville, California. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward G. Gray in 1997 and her two brothers Edward A. James and Capt. Carl Robert James. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Dyer (Jack), her two grandsons, John Dyer (Kristen), James Dyer (Danielle) and her great grandchildren Alexander and Kira Dyer. Dorothy, who loved being a mother and grandmother more than anything else, was involved with many activities over the years including singing and volunteering with Bluebirds, Jobs Daughters, PTA and Sunday school. She was an accomplished cook, baker and seamstress, making many formals, coats, dresses and suits. Her passion was gardening and arranging flowers. She was a past president of the Leona Heights Garden Club in Oakland. She was artistic and creative and in her 70's and 80's she enjoyed her weekly craft group where she made great friends and beautiful crazy quilts or maybe it was crazy friends and great quilts! Mom was always a positive thinker who was full of Grace no matter what her role. She enjoyed a good laugh and a nightly glass of wine. She was an inspiration on how to live your life for everyone that knew her. She will be placed at rest at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland with her beloved husband Ed. A celebration of her life will follow for family and friends. Contact: 925 743 1750 for details.
