Susan Yuers

Susan Josephine Yuers April 24, 1938 - Jan. 6, 2010 Resident of Livermore Susan Josephine "Jo" Yuers of Livermore was taken home and welcomed into the arms of the Good Lord on January 6. Given to us by God to teach us the meaning of strength and love, Susan was raised in Lifford, Co., Donegal, Ireland on a working farm as the youngest of seven children. Jo attended North West Institute, Ireland, earning a Higher Certificate in Business. Afterwards, she moved to and worked in London, England for two years. In 1959, she journeyed to Oakland, California where she worked for Kaiser Permanente. Married to Jack Yuers on September 29th 1962, they raised three loving children in Lafayette. Jo was always involved in their education and extracurricular activities throughout their childhood. Jo grew to deeply love her adopted country, earning her citizenship and instilling an abiding patriotism in all of her children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ann Dooher and brother James and sister Margaret, all of Lifford, Ireland, and sister Bridie of the East Bay. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Jack Yuers; daughter Kimberly of Martinez; two sons; Kenneth of Chico and David and daughter-in-law Arina of Walnut Creek. She is also survived by brother Charles Dooher; sisters Kathleen Brennan and Nancy Dooher; in addition to numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Jo touched many lives with her gentle spirit, generosity, kindness, strength and determination throughout her life. For over 30 years Jo was the accountant for her husband's business. Susan will be remembered for her kind heart, the joy she found in nature, her love of animals and especially her faith. Her greatest pleasure came from family life, sharing memorable and wonderful moments. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. All family and close friends are invited to attend a Rosary and Vigil that will be held Monday, January 11th, 7:00pm at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 458 Maple Street in Livermore. Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Tuesday, January 12th at 11am. Reception to follow at the Parish Hall.
