To the McDowell Family -
All of Our Hearts are forever touched by your loss. Life is very serendipitous and reminds us of it's fragility and true meaning when connections, such as yours to ours, are made. The generosity of your aching souls as you placed that sign near the site of Our Loss is so very touching. We pray that you are finding comfort in the caring outreach of others and, though so tragically unnecessary and unexpected, feel the depth of love from others for Glen's loss. My heart cries for and with all of yours.
Lisa (loving soulmate to Christopher Sacco); his mother, Francesca; his sister, Bianca; his son, Seth; and all of the people who had their hearts moved by Christopher's loss and saw your sign. Yes...please "look twice".

Isabel, Glen, Meghan & Erin please accept our deepest sympathy on the sudden loss of your Dad. We have such wonderful memories from our time as neighbors. The first time we ever saw him he was jumping the fence between our houses to survey your own yard. What a dedicated surveyor! Someone his height with that great hair really gets your attention. He was totally unique. I loved the way he would invent words and change the lyrics to songs. And he had such a great smile and a very special look of pride when he talked about y'all. His legacy continues though you amazing young adults.

To the McDowell family,
I absolutely cannot express how shocked and saddened I was to hear about the loss of Glen. Some of my earliest memories as a kid involve running over from my house to play with Erin, and Glen answering the door with his guitar nearby. He was so funny, and always had a rhyme or a song or a goofy nickname for us. Erin, Meghan, Glen, and Isabel, you are in my thoughts, and I will always remember your father as an comforting part of the second home I found at your house.
Love,
Stacie

Although we have not been with the Hurricanes for many years, I remember very well his tireless contribution to the team in support of all the swimmers. Glen was easy going, fun and always giving. Very sad loss.

Glen and I got to know each other after he raised his hand to volunteer as Head Timer for The Woodlands Hurricanes swim team. To my knowledge he never missed a swim meet and took the position very seriously. It is a certainty that our towering Head Timer, bedecked with his trademark Hawaiian shirt, straw hat, and untied size 15 shoes, made a distinct impression on our visiting teams, not to mention our own swimmers, ALL of who looked up to him literally. I speak for the entire Hurricane Family -we thoroughly enjoyed our time with Glen, now held so precious in our memories.
May the God of comfort deliver Glen's dear family through this unspeakable loss, and please trust that you are all in our prayers.

Glen was the first person I spoke with each morning at work. He was one of the nicest men I've ever know, and a role model to new fathers like myself. I know that he loved his son and his three girls like nothing else. I will continue to miss him dearly. Rest in Peace.

Simply put ... Glen was special. Having spent years next to this towering figure during "Hurricane" seasons, I know one thing is for sure, HE LOVED HIS KIDS! His pride in them radiated in his voice. I adored his character! He made me laugh and tolerated my craziness! Glen will be missed!

Erin, Meghan, Glen and Isabel, please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your dad. Living across the street from you in Glentrace for 13 years, I watched all of you grow up under the protective eye of your stay-at-home dad. He was the man who was always there to help all of us in the neighborhood. I have many wonderful memories of Glen coming to the bus stop in front of the Southard house with you kids in tow to get you off to school. I credit him with introducing us to the wacky world of summer swim team and spent many LONG and HOT Saturdays at Lakeside pool with him. We wouldn't trade those memories for anything! Anytime any of us in the neighborhood had an “emergency” with a snake or any other critter, he was our “go-to-guy” to help out, and he ALWAYS took care of the problem quickly! All the while, he was balancing dance, swimming, guitar, basketball and boy scout meetings and practices...and still managed to keep an impeccably clean home (of which I was always envious!). Please know that we are praying for strength and peace for all of you during this most difficult time...

We would like to express our condolences to Glen's family. We have been members of The Woodlands Hurricanes for the past five years. In this time Glen has become the iconic image of the hurricanes. In his straw hat and Hawaiian shirt he towered over everyone on the pool deck as head timer. He gave his time, generous spirit and sense of humor. He will truly be missed.
