Craig was my very first party chief. I think it was 1977 or so; I was 18 or 19--just a young girl, passionate about surveying--and he was willing to work with me when most men didn't want a girl on their field crew! He was an amazing first mentor; I truly adored him, and I am very, very sad to hear of his passing.

I am honestly still in shock that Craig is gone, but it was a beautiful service yesterday and brought up many good and funny memories of knowing Craig over the years.

One of the things I always admired about Craig was his commitment and loyalty to family. He beamed when he spoke of his grandchildren and always made any child he met feel special and important. That is a trait that we need more of in this world. My children benefited greatly from Craig's love, interest and enthusiasm for them. One nice memory I had was recalled how excited Craig was when the Animatronic Dinosaur show came to Houston. He got tickets so that Jack could go because he was sure Thane and Jack would both love the show.

Another thing I respected about Craig was his conviction. He never feared speaking his mind and was passionate about the causes he felt needed our attention. This is a rare thing since most people are too distracted by the day-to-day tasks of life to notice the big picture. I am sad that he will miss the next presidential election. It is sure to be exciting and he would have enjoyed telling us *all* the latest. I'll always smile when I think of the Howard Dean yard signs he gave me in 2004. I took photos of baby Jack in front of it and Craig liked that!

Lastly, I will always appreciate Craig's passion for helping those who are down on their luck. Craig cared about the average person, not just people who might do something for him. That selflessness is rare especially in the business world. Craig made time for everyone and saw potential in others.

Bless you Mary, Season, and Tom. I hope you find comfort in the fact that Craig loved you dearly and always wanted the best for you.

The Fallen Limb - Author Unknown

A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says,
"Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times,
the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived
while I was strong.
Continue my heritage,
I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely
the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease,
my soul is at rest.
Remembering all,
how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions,
no matter how small.
Go on with your life,
don't worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly,
so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes
we're together again.

Craig was a man of sincere passion, honesty and transparent character. The kind of man one could immediately trust. I immensely enjoyed our discussions on politics and even more so as they became passionate. Craig was always generous, always wanting to help me and others. I remember fondly of receiving nice hams each holiday season. RIP Craig...

Craig was the best boss/mentor I could have ever asked for! It has been a true blessing getting to know Craig for the past year! He has taught me so much in such little time! It was always a joy seeing his smiling face walk though that front door every morning rambling about politics or what sports team won or lost a game the day before! He always had something new to say and advice to give, they were definitely words of the wise! He was such a softy with a huge heart full of giving and I can say this much, he will be missed around Survtech, he already is!

My deepest condolences for Mary and her loved ones!

Craig attended Potomac High School ahead of me, so I never knew him in school. His lively political "discussions" with other Facebook friends in common created our connection. After learning of my leanings toward a Vegan lifestyle, Craig asked me if I would like to be friends with his wife Mary, who was also on a similar journey. So happy that Craig engineered that friendship...Mary is now a cherished & inspiring friend. Mary & Craig had an extraordinary relationship...standing the test of time--like few are able to do these days. Good-bye, dear Craig. You will be missed by so many, which is a beautiful testament to how you lived your life. Now let us circle Mary with love for you.

For the family:

The Last Moment

Then comes the moment of saying good bye.
Now it is the end, you stop asking why?.
You search your mind for things never said.
Strength comes from friends and tears that you shed.

What now has to be, you know is for the best.
It is hard to let go, but now he can rest.
Hold to the moments that all of you shared.
The Lord now is waiting, with a place He has prepared.
