Gerald Boyles, 73, of Newburgh, Ind., passed away at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at his home.
Gerald was born October 19, 1939 in Detroit, Mich., to William and Annette (Sadowski) Boyles. He was a teacher at several schools in Indiana including St. John's Lutheran, St. Peter's Lutheran, Fulton Junior High, and Trinity Lutheran. St. John's Lutheran School in South Euclid, Ohio, St. John's Lutheran in Taylor, Mich., and St. Peter's Lutheran in Davenport, Neb. Gerald enjoyed traveling and going out to dinner with his wife, Nancy and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He loved teaching mathematics and continued tutoring after retiring. He liked coaching and watching basketball, football, track and field and looking for treasures at yard sales and antique stores. Gerald touched many lives through teaching and coaching.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 11years, Nancy (Riley) Boyles, of Newburgh; children, Patricia D. Boyles, Peter L. Boyles and Tammy Riley Thomsen; grandchildren,
Kirstie Lyn Rojas, Jonathan Spicknall, Makenna and Riley Thomsen; great-grandchild, Dominic Ryder Rojas and siblings, Aleta Lee and Daryle Boyles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Edward and William Boyles.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Pastor Thomas Wenig officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel and again from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
