Eugene Russell Huck, 89, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Signature Nursing Home. He was a much beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Gene was born November 6, 1926 at St. Mary's Medical Center, the only child of the late Chester and Mary Belle Huck.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Earlene; three children, Julie Cooper (Jim) of Henderson, Ky., David Huck (Kim) of Newburgh, Ind., and Daniel Huck (Barbie) of Goshen, Ky/; six grandchildren, Ashley Cooper, Amy Hicks (Jacob), Haleigh Huck, Stephen Huck, Christina Huck and Rachel Huck; and two great-grandchildren.
Gene graduated from Bosse High School and attended Evansville College (University of Evansville). He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a long-time contractor for Feigel/Rudolph Construction and the owner of Huck Trucking. He was a member of Methodist Temple, United Methodist Church for the past 59 years.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Club will perform full military rites.
Friends may visit from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel and again from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
