Padur, Bernard T.
Bernard Thomas Padur, age 85, beloved husband of the late Marie Hutchison Padur, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Bridgeport Hospital. A life-long Bridgeport resident, Bernard was born in Madison, Maine on December 16, 1928, to the late Mary Siket and John Padur. He graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School in 1946 and Bullard Havens Technical Vocational School's Sheet Metal Apprentice Program in 1957.
He was very proud of his service to the United States Navy serving as an Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class on the U.S.S. Wright (CVL-49) from 1950-1954. He was a proud member of the Catholic War Veterans, Lt. R.J. Bauer Post #1466. He was a Fourth Degree Knight and a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Thomas Mooney Council #13228.
He leaves behind his two loving daughters, Patricia Desautels and her husband, Mark, of Seymour and Stephanie Bily and her husband, John, of Rowlett, Texas; his grandchildren, Phillip Desautels of Seymour, John J. Bily III and his wife, Jenny, of Fate, Texas and Christina Marie Bily of Dallas, Texas; and his great-grandchildren Caden, Cora and Marcus of Fate, Texas.
He is survived by his sister Mary Ann Miller and her husband, Charles, of Trumbull and his brother Paul and his wife, Marsha, of Wethersfield, Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Helen, and his brothers, John Jr., Joseph and Michael Padur.
He was employed as Chief Architectural Estimator at Heritage Architectural Corporation, West Haven, from 1974 to 1986. He was employed as an Estimator by New Haven Architectural Corporation, New Haven from 1971 to 1974 and as an Estimator at Trio Industries, Bridgeport, from 1958 to 1971. He was an Assembler at Trio Industries from 1955 to 1958 and at Sikorsky Aircraft from 1954 to 1955. From 1947 to 1949 he was employed by Chance Vought Aircraft Co. In his retirement, he enjoyed pilgrimages to the Holy Land, Lourdes and Fatima. In between, he kept busy as a Security Guard with Security Services of Connecticut, Inc. and visiting Mohegan Sun Casino.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 9:00 am at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford and at 10:00 am at St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan La., Shelton with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 6 pm.
