Balog- Valencia Mikuska Balog, age 86, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Elmer ( Al ) Balog, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 8, 2013. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Valencia had been a Fairfield Town resident for most of her life. She had worked for Peoples Bank and later for the Visiting Nurses Association of Bridgeport and in Hospice Care until her recent retirement. Valencia was a choir member singing in both St Pius and Holy Cross Churches. She was also a longtime member of the Sisters of the Franciscan Order. Valencia will be lovingly remembered as a beautiful and caring woman and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her best friend, Ann Zeiner, her Godson Allen Zeiner and Loraine Zeiner and David Zeiner, who she thought of as family. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Balog was predeceased by her brother Stanley Mikulski and sisters Helen Lupo and Stasia Schwartz. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30am in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center and at 11am in Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Dr., Fairfield, with entombment to follow in the Mt. Grove Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday from 9:30am until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Church or to St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Dr., Fairfield.
