William Corkery Obituary

CORKERY Mr. William C. Corkery, age 85 of West Haven and previously of Milford, beloved husband of the late Julia Bergin Corkery, died on Friday, August 20, 2010. Mr. Corkery was born in St. Louis on April 9, 1925 to the late John F. and Agnes LaBee Corkery and was a Milford resident for more than 40 years before moving to West Haven ten years ago. He was retired from the Milford Board of Education, where he was a teacher at Live Oaks School. Mr. Corkery was an avid golf and bridge player, loved cooking and traveling and was a member of the Milford Senior Center for many years. Survivors include two sons, Richard J. Corkery and Peter G. Corkery; two daughters, Ann P. Corkery and Mary C. Corkery; a sister, Patricia Winklemann; five grandsons; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, William C. Corkery, Jr. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 24th at 8:15 a.m. in the Cody-White Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 600 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends and family may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford. www.codywhitefuneralservice.com

He was a wonderful teacher and I will always have great memories of him. My sympathies to hi family...I also had him as fifth grade teacher as well.

i never had the pleasure of actually having him as a teacher, but i do remember having to go into his classroom once to see my brother ( i was only 6 or 7 i believe at the time) and it was very intimidating..lol he was sooooo nice and stopped teaching , let me visit with my brother and made a very scared little girl feel welcome.... i will never forget him for that...mr "c"..r.i.p.
