Anthony Delano Obituary

DELANO Anthony J. Delano, age 81 Sratford, previously of Easton and Westport, passed away Tuesday, December 22nd at Lord Chamberlain Health Care in Stratford. Mr. Delano was born May 18, 1928 in Westport. He is the son of the late Joseph and Carmela (Piemonte) Delano. Raised in Westport, Mr. Delano lived in Easton for 34 years and most recently resided in Stratford. After graduating from Staples High School in 1946, he was honored with an appointment to the USMA at West Point, where he received a Bachelor of Engineering degree and his Army commission in 1951. Upon graduation, Mr. Delano was assigned to the US Army Corps of Engineers, 2nd Engineer Battalion, 2nd Division and served in the Korean War through 1953 where he was awarded the Bronze star medal. After his discharge from the Army, he earned a masters degree in mechanical engineering from Columbia University. Subsequently, Mr. Delano worked in the engineering profession, where he spent the majority of his career at Bolt Associates in Norwalk, from which he retired as vice president of Engineering in 1986. Mr. Delano remained very active in the West Point Association of Graduates, giving generously of his time and resources. He was a 37 year member of American Legion Post 0160, a longtime member of the Unitarian Church in Westport and belonged to the Connecticut Classic Arts organization in Trumbull. He will also be remembered as an avid gardener and voracious reader, with a renowned passion for art.Survivors include his wife, Patricia Monchamp Delano of Stratford; one brother, William Delano of Westport; two sisters, Mary Delano of Coral Gables, Fla.; Ann Carissimi of Fairfield; brother-in-law, Vincent Caris-simi; and three nephews, Louis, Vincent and John Carissimi. Mr. Delano was also predeceased by one sister, Rachel Newman. A memorial service will be announced in the future. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Delano may be made to the Interfaith Housing Association, 49 Richmondville Ave., Suite 112, Westport, CT 06880.

Dolores Mainiero Pellegrino, age 96
Middlebrook Farms Assisted Living Facility, Trumbull Ct.
Tony was a very long-time friend of my brother Vin Mainiero. When Tony and I were at the same nursing home, I would visit Tony and his wife in my wheelchair. I'm deeply sorry to learn of Tony's passing.

Tony was the best of friends,certainly for me. I've known Tony since 1957 & I have always treasured his friendship. When I was a bachelor, Tony, Pat & I went many places & did many activities together. I am grateful for having known Tony. God bless & be with Tony & Pat.
