In the early days of Pete*s Subs and then SubWay, Carmela and Sal were great folks to work with. Condolences to all. A great example of the American Dream, to take an idea, work extremely hard and overcome obstacles, come up with new ideas to improve, and enjoy the fruits of their hard work. Rest in Peace.

To the DeLuca and Ombres' family: I have may warm memories of Carmela, beginning when I was a young girl, visiting her house in CT with my parents, get togethers at my Aunt Ida and Uncle Frank's house, my wedding, etc. One memory I have and have shared with others is when my Great Aunt Tessie died in 2003 at age 100+. We were at St. Raymond's cemetary and Carmela was in her wheelchair crying. My heart broke. I was looking at all of Aunt Tessie's children, thinking of all the years they were blessed having their Mom -- yet we are never ready to have them leave us, no matter how prepared we think we are -- we really aren't prepared at all. 9 months after Aunt Tessie died, I lost my Mom -- and thought of Carmela crying in her wheelchair. No, we are never prepared. To Fred and Suzanne, my deepest sympathy. You lost your Mom and she is now a memory . . . but her memory becomes a treasure that you will hold on to for your lifetime.
With love and sympathy,
In loving Memory " Carmela / Sapphire Rose" _ "No rose lives forever in this world, but blooms for eternity in our hearts and memories.

Fred and Suzanne, It has been a privelege for me to work with Carm all of these years. She was a big part of my Subway life. She was an Amazing Woman. She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved being with her family and friends. I will miss her.
