Wilson Irizarry Obituary
Wilson Irizarry, Sr., 62, beloved husband of Mary Ann Irizarry, passed away at home on Jan. 31, 2014. Born in Mayaguez, PR, to Pedro Irizarry and Rafaela Marrero Irizarry, he was educated there and retired as a corrections officer for the state of CT. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Magdalena Padilla and husband Jose of Waterbury, Anna Maria Irizarry of Bridgeport, Stephanie Johnson and husband Rodney of Bridgeport, Teresa Lopez and husband Daniel of VA, and Wilson Irizarry, Jr. of Bridgeport. Also his brothers Pedro Irizarry of Bridgeport, Nelson Irizarry, his sisters Sylvia Mercado, Miriam Mercado, Luz Irizarry, many half-brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his little daughter Elizabeth Ann. Wilson was a passionate follower of all aspects of baseball, a good pool player in his younger days and always enjoyed a game of dominoes. Above all he loved his family especially his grandchildren Anastasia, Mikayla, Eryn, Aurora, Gabriella, Daniel, Jr. and little Rodney, born on Jan. 29, 2014, with whom he never had the chance to hug and kiss. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at 10 AM in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 1 PM at St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the following institutes researching diabetes: CDC Foundation (cdcfoundation.org) or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (jdrf.org). I remember Willie from years ago when my son Dan Papcin worked at North ave jail with him. So sorry for your loss. Let the happy memories help you now and going through the future. I lost Dan in 2008, so I know what you are feeling now. Hold dear the fond memories' they do help.

Dearest Willie - We have LOTS of history!!!! going back to the "70" meeting you at City National Bank when you were a guard for starters - you taught me so much in life respect - humor and wit - No one could play pool like you - all the baseball games for the bank the picnics geesh the memories go on and on - you were a good friend who I would bump into now and then - R.I.P dear friend - till me meet again.
