Joseph Olender Obituary
Joseph Stanley Olender, age 96, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014, in Branford. Born January 2, 1918 in Utica, N.Y., he was the son of the late John and Anna (Deptula) Olender. He proudly served in the Army during WWII and later worked in in his own business. Joseph is survived by his wife Marion Jean (Spry) and sons, Bryan Olender and Roger Olender, his brother Henry and his wife Margaret Olender of CA., his sister Mary Krafcik of Milford and his sister-in-law Betty Jarusinsky of Stratford. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother John and sisters Anna Verikus, Helen Owsiany, Theresa Zegarski, Florence Byczko, Ceil Case and Jessie Olender. A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated August 13, 2014 at 11:00 am in St. Anne's Church, 501 Naugatuck Ave., in Milford. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Joseph's memory to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.

Jean, Bryan and Roger,
I heard, Saturday, from Cousin Lee Benski, on the passing of Joseph. I met Uncle Joe, for the first time, at the 2010 Olender Family Reunion. A little history, the 3 brothers (Stanley, John, and Nicholas), that immigrated from Kolno, Poland, each named one of their sons, Joseph, in honor of their father. My father was Stanley's son, Joseph. I was happy that my dad was able to reunite with his cousin Joe and all the other cousins, at the family reunion. My dad passed away, 1 year later, in June 2011 at the age of 87. My wife Laura and I will not be able to attend the Mass on Wednesday, but our thoughts and prayers will be with you.
