DOUGLAS KNUTZEN Obituary

Douglas Wayne Knutzen, 49, of Elmwood, formerly of DeKalb, where he worked as a dispatcher, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Elmwood Care.
Born Sept. 25, 1961, in DeKalb, the son of Richard W. and Vernetta Jane (Smith) Knutzen, Douglas was a 1980 graduate of DeKalb High School. He was an avid bowler and loved boats, the Cubs and Packers. He worked as a dispatcher for Amoco and Shell Motor clubs.
He is survived by his father, Richard, of DeKalb; brother, Steven (Debbie) Knutzen of DeKalb; sisters, Tami (Scott) Taylor of Edgerton, Wis., and Tina Knutzen of DeKalb; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vernetta, in 2005.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Anderson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Vaughn officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date at Malta Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Douglas Wayne Knutzen Memorial Fund, in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.

I first met Doug when we both worked for the Amoco Motor Club. Always freindly and helpful, I looked forward to running into him at Mardi Gras over the last several years. Doug always seemed positive and upbeat, and was very inspiring for me to be around. He will be missed.

Iam so sorry to hear about this. Dougie was the best friend i have had. We use to have so much fun, Pushing him down to the bowling alley, going around trick or treating, even when it was snowing we would still go out on halloween. pushing him into the piles of leaves during the fall. He will be so missed.

Doug was one of the nicest people I have met online. He was always in the best of moods and treated everyone the same. New friends and old. Our chat room will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
