JEAN SHIPP Obituary

Jean Ruth Shipp, 90, of Cortland, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, DeKalb.
Born May 28, 1921, at her grandparents' home in DeKalb, the daughter of Harold O. and Grace Aline (Harmes) Lindus, she married Robert W. Shipp on Jan. 31, 1943, in Waterman.
She was formerly employed by DeKalb Ag and Milk Consumers; later, she retired after more than 25 years at General Electric in DeKalb. She was a life member of Trinity Lutheran Church, DeKalb, and its Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America group.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Tamme Sherrill of Duquesne, Pa., and Michael (Susan) Sherrill of DeKalb; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Brianna; a niece, Carol Switzer, as well as other nieces and nephews; and her dog, Diogi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Judie Sherrill; brother, Harold Lindus; sister, Janice Besse; and nephew, Brad Besse.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church, DeKalb, with the Rev. Todd Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Jean Ruth Shipp Memorial Fund, in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.
