JOHN WELLANDER Obituary
Born March 11, 1926, in Hallock, Minn., the son of Edward and Flossie (Campeau) Wellander, he married Elaine M. Lehman on Nov. 25, 1949, at First Baptist Church of DeKalb.
A U.S. Army veteran from 1946-1947, John was employed at Brody's Sycamore Coats for over 25 years and later at J.W. Construction until his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church of DeKalb for 60 years, DeKalb Elks, DeKalb County Farm Bureau, the Sierra Club and the Bush Riders Motorcycle Club.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Steven (Grace) Wellander of Huntington Beach, Calif.; daughter, Lori (Bill) Annetti of Park Ridge; three grandchildren, Bryan Wellander, Colin and Kendall Annetti; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kristen Wellander; brother, Ralph Wellander; three sisters, Ruth Riedlesperger, Ruby Meserve and Esther Wesley; and his parents.
The funeral service will held at noon Friday, June 17, at First Baptist Church, 349 S. Third Street, DeKalb, with the Rev. Joe Sanders officiating. Full military rites will be provided by DeKalb County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Anderson Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at Anderson Funeral Home Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the John L. Wellander Memorial Fund, in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.
