KATHRYN DUTTON Obituary
Born Oct. 26, 1914, in Oak Park, she attended Beloit College, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1936. She met her husband of 61 years, George E. Dutton, at Beloit and settled in Sycamore after their marriage; George predeceased her in 1999.
Betty was active in many organizations over the years including P.E.O. and Federated Church, and took great pride in overseeing the philanthropic support provided to various local charities through the George E. and Betty B. Dutton Foundation, created in 1995. She loved her family and enjoyed the opportunities to gather with them for holidays in Denver, Tulsa and Michigan.
She is survived by her sons, David G. (Cheryl) Dutton of Denver, Colo., and James W. (Sally) Dutton of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Andrew (Bartley) Dutton of Denver, Bradley (Bridget) Dutton of Boston, Mass., Lindsay (Trey) Ruthven of Mashpee, Mass., and John (Greta) Dutton of Zionsville, Ind.; and great-grandchildren, Ella Dutton, Ben Dutton, Charlotte Dutton, Sarah Ruthven, Hayden Ruthven, Kate Dutton and Abby Dutton.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Federated Church, 612 W. State St., Sycamore.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to DeKalb Community Foundation (George and Betty Dutton Fund), 2600 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178; Anchor Center for Blind Children, 2550 Roslyn St., Denver, CO 80238; or Congregational Summer Assembly Pilgrim Fund, c/o Jim Royle, 5660 Hacienda Court, Saginaw, MI 48638.
