VILLETTA BRUNDAGE Obituary

Villetta (Allen) Brundage, 97, went to be with her Lord April 25, 2011.
She was born in Milledgeville, Ill., to Orville and Clara Allen. The oldest of five children, she graduated from Milledgeville High School as valedictorian and went on to Illinois State Teachers College in DeKalb. Her 26 years of teaching included everything from a one-room school house, a grade school class in LaGrange, high school at Malta, finishing with teaching second grade and then first, at Lee Elementary. She met her husband, Maurice, while teaching in Malta and they enjoyed 53 years together. She loved her churches – both the Brethren Church of Milledgeville and First Congregational Church of Malta, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Villetta lived in El Paso, Texas, since October 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor (Rob) Phillips; granddaughter, Sine Phillips; her sisters, Helen Kelly and Ann Millhouse; brother, Orville George (Jean) Allen; nieces, Mickey (James) Jewell, JoAnn Shafer, Catherine Kelly, Roseanne Kelly, Blenda (Barry) Williams, Karen (John) Hiscox, Debbie (Greg) Stubbs, Eileen (Dean) Johnson and Nancy Brundage; and nephews, Allen (Jill) Millhouse and Mark (Caralee) Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, and her sister, Eva Simpson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with interment at Malta Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Villetta (Allen) Brundage Memorial Fund, in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.

Dear Eleanor,

My deepest sympathy go out to you and your family. You have been a model daughter and and I know your Mom loved you very much. I could go on for hours with the many memories she left while recounting the times spent at your house. It was like a second home and your Mom always had something yummy cooking or baking. Mrs. Brundage (we never called our friends moms by there first name) was a household name in our home. She was kind, loving, strict and she loved the Lord. I know you will miss her and she will will always have a special place in our hearts. Much love, Paula Powell(Pauletta Horton)

Dear Brundage Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved Villetta. I am so sorry for your loss. I was blessed to know Villetta many years ago when she lived in Malta and I was one of her temporary home caregivers. I will always remember her as such a loving and positive person. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this very difficult time. May God bless you and comfort you always.

I have many happy memories of your mother, Eleanor. I used to pick her up at her home and make the trip to the Lee Grade School in the 1970's. She was a pleasure to work with and to know as a colleague and friend. She always had a positive outlook on life and always found the best in the people she knew. Her love for you and your family was expressed so often. My sympathy to you and your family.

Eleanor, sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was a great lady and a good neighbor. I appreciated the encouragement she gave to me to gain my masters and work in the field of education. I pray for comfort for you in this time of sorry.
