FRANCES SAUNDERS Obituary

Frances L. Saunders, 90, of Oregon, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, in her home. Born Nov. 30, 1920, in West Brooklyn, the daughter of Orville and Emma Busser Miller, she married Alban F. Saunders Sr. on March 21, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa; he died in 1971.
Frances was employed as a cook at Yellow Bird Senior Citizens Center, was an avid gardener, loved cooking at home and was an adventurer. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include children, Barbara Roos, Alice (Tom) Longan, Carolyn (Joe) Como and Eula (Helmut) Schmidt, all of Dixon, Patricia (John) Berge of Sterling, Charlotte (Joe) Hodder of DeKalb and Leroy (Margaret) Saunders of Oregon; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Helen Frericks of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; son, Alban Jr.; four sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 1, with visitation from 2-4 p.m. in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. Seventh St., Oregon. Pastor Todd Peterson of Trinity Lutheran Church, DeKalb, will officiate. Graveside committal services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon.
