Jean Peplow Obituary

Jean L. Peplow

Born: June 20, 1928

Died: January 5, 2017

Jean L. Peplow, 88, a life-long resident of Sycamore, Illinois, died at Oakcrest Retirement Center on Thursday, January 5, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 20, 1928 in Sycamore to John and Elsie (Gropp) Lindahl. She was a 1947 graduate of Sycamore High School. Jean married Marvin Peplow on April 12, 1951 in Sycamore. She retired from DeKalb Ag after 25 years, where she worked as a secretary. Jean had a great love of animals, including her son's dogs Fritz and Sophie.

Jean is survived by her son, James (Arlene) Peplow; and grandson, Michael (Jana-fianc e) Peplow of Savannah, GA; older sister, Joyce Sayre of Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Wesley and Keith.

Jean's wishes to her family and friends are as follows: I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

The family is respecting Jean's wishes to have a private family burial and no other services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tails Humane Society, 2250 Barber Greene Rd., DeKalb, IL 60115.

I worked with Jean at Anaconda- She and Marvin were always great to visit with people in the hospital - both were very generous in their time to help people - both loved to go out to eat and had many special places that they enjoyed. They came to visit Gus when he was in hospital just before he passed away - will always remember their kindness- Jean always had a joke and a laugh and enjoyed life- she will be missed. Peggy Ireton

I remember her laugh and what fun it was to take her and Peg to Little Traveler and hear their stories from all of the years from high school on
and the joy they had in being friends. I took her some cookies last week and every time I did she would always say "Thanks a bunch."

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a lovely lady. I worked with your father at Ideal, but knew your mother from the company picnics and parties over the years. My father also worked at Ideal and knew your parents as well. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
