Robert Burel Branson
Jan. 9, 1934 - Jan. 23, 2011
Robert Burel Branson, 77, of Farmington, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at his home. He was born Jan. 9, 1934, in Shannon County, Mo., to Dewitt and 0cie Branson.
He attended high school in Ruidoso and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He served in the Korean Was and was honorably discharged in 1954.
He worked as a pipe fitter until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean Short Branson; daughter, Toni Lee; son, Wade; and a sister, Patricia Martindale.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Parten Branson; former wife, Toni Zufelt and her sons, Allen and Robert and a daughter, Shrol Cerny; Jean's children, David Short, Barbara Barr, Cathy Bihlmaier and Elizabeth Short; sisters, Elaine Freshour, Donna Lee and Lynn Boyd; and numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was an avid sportsman; a true and generous friend who enjoyed life with a hearty laugh and a wicked sense of humor.
He will be greatly missed by his numerous friends and loved ones.
Memorial services will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Jan. 28, at Farmington Elks Lodge, No. 1747, 801 Municipal Drive.

Late sending my deepest sympathy, from me Verna Rose Branson(Newman) I remember Bob when I was about 16 yrs old Dad (Vernon Branson and mom Rosie ) brought us kids back there, I know boys kept in touch with Bob and thought a lot about him. Bob, I will always remember and cherish the memories when I work for you back through the local; your outlook on life was true and never dull. Your wit and boisterous laugh will never be forgotten and your friendship towards my family and father were priceless. Good luck my friend and may God be with you. When you meet up with Mick; tell him I miss him and the both of you take care. Don't forget to check on us now and then; remember you'll always be in our prayers.
