Victor K. Conner
Feb. 24, 1923 - March 14, 2010
Victor K. Conner, 87, a resident of Farmington since 1959, passed away March 14, 2010, surrounded by family. Mr. Conner was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Pleasant Plains, Ill., to Daisy Conner. He was raised in the home of his grandparents, Sam and Etta Conner.
After graduating from Pleasant Plains High School in 1941, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served aboard the USS Wasp CV7, and the USS Boston CA69, was honorably discharged Feb. 28, 1946, and married the love of his life, Jean Minor, five days later.
He was a member of the Stinger Club (dedicated to all those who served aboard the USS Wasp CV-7, and the swim a-ways), an USS Boston CA69 Plank Owner and Shipmate member.
In 1959, the family of six moved to Farmington, and owned and operated Conner TV Clinic, Valle Grande Conoco and Hutton Conoco. Vic later retired through Wards and Sears.
Victor was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; and two grandchildren, Robin Stewart and Nova Bjorn Ochoa.
He leaves behind three daughters, Alice Kee, Sammi Scriver and Penny (Joe) Ochoa; one son, Victor (Kathy) Conner; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was "The Quiet Man" that made a huge impact in our lives. We love him, we miss him and we are grateful he and Mom are together again.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave., in Farmington.
