N. Nix Obituary


Edenton resident

Nathan Michael "Mike" Nix, 61, of 916 Indian Trail Road, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 in Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville. Mike was born in Portsmouth, Va. and was the son of the late Warren M. and Eileen McAuliffe Nix. An EMT with Pasquotank County EMS, he was a member of the VFW and was an Army Infantry Medic during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Warren M. Nix. Surviving are his wife, Judy Carol Warden Nix; two daughters, Dana Hinton of Elizabeth City and Courtney Baker and husband, Eric, of Edenton; two sisters, Sherryl Dowty of Columbia and Robyn Culpepper of Hertford; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Bob Young. Burial with military honors will follow in the family cemetery at the home. Friends may join the family in the funeral home the hour prior to the service on Sunday, and all other times at the residence. Online condolences may be made at www.millerfhc.com.
