George Keeter Obituary


Edenton resident

George Albert Keeter Jr., 75, of 121 Jackson Street, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 in the Skilled Nursing Facility of Chowan Hospital. Mr. Keeter was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late George Albert Sr. and Mrs. Hazel Chappell Keeter. Retired from the fine paper division of Weyerhauser Corp., he attended Cape Colony Church of Christ and had formerly attended First Christian Church, both in Edenton. He had served in the US Navy Reserves. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Lewis Keeter; a daughter, Kimberly Lynn Keeter; and by his sisters, Audrey Phthisic and Dot Vanhoy. Surviving are his sons, G.A. Keeter III, David Keeter and wife, Julie, and Chris Keeter, all of Edenton and Michael Keeter of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, John W. "Bill" Keeter and wife, Jan, of Chesapeake, Va.; five grandchildren, Matthew Keeter and companion, Amanda; and Kayla, Corey, Christopher Jr. and Hunter Keeter; and three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Jordan, and MacKenzie. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, by the Rev. Thomas Biggs. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the residence. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.millerfhc.com.

I am very sorry to hear of the lost of my classmate. I missed him in April for our 50th class reunion and wondered where he was. My prayers go out to the family for the lost of a great person. Regret I will not be able to attend the funnel due to personal commitments I could not reschedule.
