Adolphus Spruill Obituary

Adolphus Ray Spruill, 74, of the 100 block of Woodland Terrace, Chesapeake, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 13, 2007 from his residence. Mr. Spruill was born in Edenton, N.C., and was the son of the late Harrison Richard and Clara Bennett Spruill. Retired as a school administrator from the city of Portsmouth, Va., he was an active member of Cradock United Methodist Church and the Cradock Lions Club. He was a Navy veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Spruill Arnett, and brothers, William E. Spruill, Augustus R. Spruill and Marvin Spruill. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Harrell Spruill; a daughter, Beth Spruill Nesbit and husband Jim, of Tampa, Fla.; a grandson, Ian Conte of Tampa, Fla.; and two sisters, Ethel Spruill Vann of Suffolk, Va. and Dora Blake White of Miami, Fla. A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 22, at 1 p.m. in Cradock United Methodist Church by the Rev. Frances Craig. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, N.C. Friends may join the family on Saturday from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com. Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Edenton, is assisting with local arrangements.
