GREENVILLE - Robert Murn Falknor, 91, of Greenville, formerly of Arcanum, died March 12, 2013, at Brethren Retirement Community.
Bob was named Murn after the family's admired pastor, Rev. Murn Klepinger. Mr. Falknor was born in Butler Township on April 27, 1921, the son of the late Charles and Edith (Riegle) Falknor.
He graduated from Arcanum High School in 1939. Robert became a member of the Savona United Brethren Church in 1935. He resumed attending the then named Savona United Methodist Church in 1987 and continued until it closed December 2000. During the years at Savona he held the office of treasurer, custodian, and served on various committees. He then transferred membership to the New Madison United Methodist Church.
During World War II, he enlisted in the Army and reported for duty Aug. 6, 1942. He was sent to the 88th Infantry Div. and put on cadre and sent to the 11th Airborne Div. for duty in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged Dec. 21, 1945.
Robert was a retired employee of GM- Delco, Dayton, retiring in 1979. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 665- Priddy Walters Post, West Manchester.
Mr. Falknor was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Martha Elizabeth Swank.
He is survived by his sister, Jean Hangen of Arcanum; brother Marion "Shorty" Falknor and wife Frances of Greenville; and a nephew and nieces.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday at Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum, with Pastor Carol Duffield officiating.
The family will receive relatives and friends Friday one hour before time of services. The family suggests memorial contributions to the New Madison United Methodist Church. Condolences may be sent to KreitzerFuneralHomeInc.com.

I don't remeber much about Bob, I was a kid when I knew him. What I will always remember was his sense of trust and hiw much he gave of himself. His was the first car I ever drove...at about the age of 10. RIP Bob. I hope some day that I get to meet you again.
