What a nice man, a great teacher, and a kind soul. May he be resting in peace. I am still devastated that he left us with so much more life to live. I wish I had known in time so that I could have attended the funeral and paid my respects to his widow and his family. Kenny, we will always remember you.

I first met Kenny on a 3 week tour of Japan in the late '90's. We were roommates on that tour so Kenny and I had a lot of downtime together to explore Japan. I also got him on a Beatles show at the MGM Grand Theme Park in Las Vegas where he had to assume the role of George Harrison complete with wig and Beatle Boots. We laughed so much durning that gig and really became good friends. My wife Megan and I will miss him dearly even though we didn't see him much since he relocated to Dallas. Our condolences and prayers are with you all.

I remember being so nervous inside when I had my first lesson with Ken. I wasn't really sure what to expect from it, but as soon as I got there he welcomed me kindly and showed me a love for both the guitar and music. It was a new world to me, but he walked me through it and showed me how to love it as well. He was a very patient and generous man; I remember when he took the time to meet me and my father at Guitar Center to help me look for my first real guitar. I was so excited when I got it, not just because I had a fine instrument to play but because he was there to help me find the right one. I am forever grateful to have had the honor of being his student, as well as calling him my friend. Rest in peace Ken, you will never be forgotten.

To Ken's family and friends I send my apologies and to myself a rest in peace. I loved Ken and I was only his student for about two years. I had grown to know him and he was like family to me. He was very important to me and my family, especially my parents. Everyday when I got out of class I couldn't stop talking about what we talked about or the lessons we learned. He was one of the biggest inspirations on me and made me feel like I was worth something in this world. He taught me how to be happy and also taught me how to play my favorite instrument: the guitar. I wrote an instrumental song in his memory. I'm sure it was a lot of fun walking up that Stairway To Heaven! I'm sure you're smiling down on all of us right now. Rest In Peace! I love you! <3

I love and miss you terribly, Ken. You were a huge inspiration to me and I will always keep my guitar close. I know you're shining down on everyone down here that loves and cares for you while you smile up there in Heaven. You'll never be forgotten by me and my family. I love you. Rest In Peace Ken. <3

I took lessons from Ken for about four years. He was a really talented player - could play just about anything - and was very patient with an old (60) and low-talented student like me. He also spent lots of time outside of our lessons transcribing stuff from records. A great guy, and I'll sure miss him.

August 15, 2011

i just found this out today and i am a student of his. I am still in shock. He was an amazing teacher and he had a wonderful personality. He will be missed.

"Tuesdays with Kenny." That is what Jack and our family called his lesson every Tuesday at 3:00. An hour long highlight of Jack's week where music was learned, ideas were exchanged, Nessie would howl at Jack's bad notes, many laughs were had, and most importantly, Jack, our 8 year old son, found a friend in Kenny.
We were so incredibly blessed to have him in our life. Kenny was so gifted, so patient and so thoughtful. Our family will miss him terribly. Please know that our hearts go out to you, we are thinking of you and sending support to lift you up.
Please find comfort in the fact that he greatly touched a precious, little soul, who we call Jackie Blue, and for that we will be forever grateful.

With Loving Care,
Stewart, Dawn, Jack, George and Sophia Sweda

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Williams,
Kenny was such a special person - talented and kind, with a wonderful sense of humor. We miss him terribly. He was such an inspiring and patient guitar teacher to our grandson, Jack, who is 8 years old. Kenny passed away the day we left on a family trip, and we were so shocked and saddened to hear of his death. That evening, after swimming, Jack said he wanted to play his guitar, which he had brought with him on the trip. We had not yet told him about Kenny's death, so when he started to play we were all extremely moved. We felt so close to your son at that time.
Please accept our prayers and deepest sympathy. We will always remember your son as the wonderful person that he was.

I am so sorry to hear about Kenny's passing. I was a current student of Kenny's and had been for four years. His love of music, his love of teaching and his genuine caring for his students will be missed by many people. He was a friend who inspired me to keep improving. My thoughts are with his family and relatives at this time.

Dear Shirley, Kenny and Barbara--I was so very sorry to hear of Kenny, Jr.'s passing. I know how you treasured him and I was so grateful that he found happiness with Barbara. Shirley, I had just run across the pictures you sent at Christmas of 2008, that included some shots of Kenny and Barbara--I especially love the one with Barbara's leaning her head on his shoulder. They look so happy together. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you through this difficult time. Please call me when you are able, Shirley, so we can talk about your wonderful son. Love, Linda

Shirley and Kenneth, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Kenny. I always enjoyed when he would come to the house and visit Joe and I when he was home. May GOD grant you peace and strength in this time of sorrow. Kenny was a high school classmate of mine, and was a joy to be around. From the comments I have read here, it is obvious he did not change over the years. I know he was loved and will be missed, but not forgotten.

Barbara, and Mr. and Mrs. Williams, I am sorry for your loss. Kenny left too soon. He was a band mate of mine in the late 70's and we played together in the Billy Cole Reed Band as well as our own band. We just recently started writing each other after many years. The time I spent with Kenny is something I look back on often and remember foundly. He was a good man, a great friend. The world has truely been a better place with him in it.

Shirley and Kenneth,
I am very sad at the loss of your son and my friend. We spent many days playing music together. I have some wonderful memories and will miss him as well. I have just learned that I currently live just 40 min from where he lived in Frisco. If only I had known. I am so sorry...

I am just shocked. Kenny was one of my best friends. Years ago he
taught me "Mood for a Day" by YES. I can still play the intro. We always had a good time teaching each other something on the guitar.
He could get it in one take. I took me several. He was a gifted musician and I still have some of the cassette tapes he sent me when
I lived in Georiga. While I was stationed in the Army in Berlin in the early 80's I went to a German record store and low and behold there
was one of Kennys favorite albums, Casually Classic by Los Indios
Tabajas. I bought it for him as it was impossible to find in the states.
And the next time I was home on leave I made sure he got it. He was
so appreciative.
Above all Kenny was gentleman. A quality hard to find in men today.
I hope he has found peace. God bless you both. And I shall never forget him.

Dear Mr and Mrs Williams, I am so sorry for your loss. God Bless you.
Some of my fondest memories and some of the best times of my young life were when Kenny, Kevin, Chris and I played music together. We were a band. I loved it and know Kenny did too. We spent many a late night jamming, listening to music or just talking about guitars. He worked very hard at being a good player, and he was. I'll never forget Kenny. He'll always be a part of me. Rest in peace my old friend.

My son Reece, age 11, started taking guitar lessons from Mr. Williams 4 months ago. Although we had only known Mr. Williams for a short time he made a big impact on my son and his love of the guitar. Mr. Williams' encouragement, sense of humor, and fun music assignments made Reece's guitar lesson something he really looked forward to. We are glad to have known him if only for a short time.
