Betty Coulombe Obituary

Betty passed away peacefully at her home of 47 years in Rancho Palos Verdes on November 11, 2010 surrounded by her family. Born April 2, 1925 in New Haven, CT to Harry and Avanelle Kellgren. Betty married her childhood sweetheart Harry Coulombe on August 4, 1944. Together they had four children; Harry (Joan) Coulombe, Jr. of Long Beach, Susan (Dennis) Capilouto of Surfside, Jane (John) Penman of San Francisco and Nancy (Gordon) Esch of Rancho Palos Verdes. Their seven grandchildren include Michael (Christine) Capilouto of NY, NY, Anne (Michael) Russell of Long Beach, Patrick Capilouto of Huntington Beach, Harry Coulombe III of Long Beach, Joseph Coulombe of Long Beach, Brian Esch of Reno NV, Christopher Esch of Huntington Beach; and four great grandchildren, Amanda, Sara, Jacob Russell of Long Beach, Alexander Capilouto of Huntington Beach. Besides creating a loving home for her family, Betty was also active in several organizations. They included Rolling Hills Golf Club, SPPH Womens Guild, Palos Verdes Assistance League, and San Pedro Assistance League. Betty accumulated in excess of 5,000 volunteer hours over a 25-year span at SPPH. Harry and Betty loved to travel. They enjoyed spending time vacationing in their RV, along with their home in the Lawrence Welk's community in Escondido. Betty remained close to her family after the passing of her beloved Harry in 2000. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the American Heart Association. Services will be held at the Green Hills Chapel on November 20, 2010 at 1pm. Reception will follow at the family home in Rancho Palos Verdes.
