In the late 1960’s I began my life’s work on the waterfront. I was lucky enough to meet a very gentle affable person, my union brother Dave Short. Occasionally we worked side by side in the hold of some hot, dusty freighter. Working with Dave was always enjoyable. Recalling when he partnered with Jessie Navarro is impossible. We all graduated to operate cranes and I saw less and less of these two guys. They worked steady for Cresent while I worked for Marine Terminals. Once in a while we ran into each other and, for just a few minutes, had fun catching up. When they retired I was happy but selfishly saddened that they leaving "our" waterfront. I think of each as a small part of my union life. Please accept my sincere condolence.

Danny, Katie and Family,
I am so shocked and sad that you have another huge loss to endure with the passing of your Father. People like your Parents are far and few between. I am honored to have been their friend for over 40 years!
My heart goes out to your beautiful children that they won't have such loving grandparents in their young lives. They were adored by both your Mom and Dad. I am stunned to read this! Your Dad was so loving, loyal and devoted to your Mom during her declining health. There is nothing he wouldn't do for her or you kids either! I know they are both happy to be reunited in the afterlife. My Love to all of you!
