Frank Outzen Obituary

Frank Rodney Murillo Outzen

February 3, 1985 - July 4, 2013

Frank Rodney Murillo Outzen succumbed to a congenital heart condition on July 4, 2013. It was the only time the condition kept him from living a life full of friends, family, and being a big kid at heart. He grew up in Redondo Beach, Torrance and Carson CA. Frank attended Alta Vista Elementary School, and Calle Mayor Middle School. He graduated from Torrance South High School in 2003. He received an Associate degree in Business from Harbor College. Frank had been employed by Albertson's as a meat cutter for over 10 years. He started working in the retail field in high school, and loved meeting people and making friends with his customers. Frank was a soul loaned to us to be a light in our lives. He lived life with enthusiasm for his passions, which were many. As a South Bay kid he wanted to master the local activities, skate boarding, remote control planes and cars, outrigger canoe paddling in the youth program of the Redondo Beach Lanakila Outrigger Canoe Club, camping in Baja, going to the local beaches. To Frank, ambition meant becoming great in the things that interested him. He was an avid collector; his latest collection was Dodger bobble head figures. He viewed competition as part of having fun with his friends. Frank loved to travel, and started as a child with his grandparents, June and Pete Murillo. He frequently attended concerts of his favorite local bands. He was always open to going to a new place, trying a new food, discovering a new hobby, or having a new adventure. In the last few years, Frank had developed a popular YouTube channel, called reggaefrank09. He loved food, so his videos focused on reviewing hot sauces, very hot peppers, and other spicy foods. His tag line was "keep it spicy". Frank had adopted a philosophy based on a Reggae outlook of life - "Don't worry, be happy", "live the life you love and love the life you live" His favorite tattoo depicted the symbols for stop, pause and play. Frank was the best son, brother, uncle and friend that most of us will ever know. He had the kind heart of a child, and the happiness of a man who had continuously lived an adventurous, fun life. His easy going personality and great sense of humor will be missed, and remembered by all who knew him. Since his death, everyone who knew him has thought of his life and his effect on peopleand have vowed to be more like him. Frank is predeceased by his grandfather, Pete Murillo and his uncle, Jimmy Murillo, of Carson Ca.His grandfather came from a large family, and his father had four brothers, so Frank was always surrounded by aunts, uncles and cousins, at frequent gatherings at his grandparents' house in Carson, CA.. Frank is survived by his beautiful girlfriend, Lizeth Garcia, his father, Frank Murillo, his grandmother, June Murillo, his uncles, Pete Murillo, Lee Murillo, and Manuel Murillo all from Carson, Ca. He leaves behind his closest friends, his sisters and brother, Amanda Olea, and her daughters and son, Carson, CA, Summer Murillo, San Antonio, TX, Lauren Culver, Houston TX, and Daniel Culver, Houston TX, His father and his former stepmother, Rhonda Murillo Sims, San Antonio TX raised him to be active and outgoing, and to never consider his heart condition as a limitation. He is also survived by his mother, Melanie Outzen and her family, Carson, CA. He had built a full life of numerous friends, both locally and from across the country. All of his friends and family know that our life was much fuller with Frank as a part it. The family appreciates all of the kind words and prayers during this time. In lieu of flowers please consider contributing to a memorial fund to Children's Hospital Los Angeles for pediatric cardiology at www.chla.org,choose donate and then tribute gift, specifying Frank Outzen. Please select that a notification be sent to the family, as we are sure these will be a comfort to his grandmother. A memorial service will be held 11 am, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Gamby Funeral Home, 25001 Narbonne Avenue, Lomita, CA. 90717. Please sign the guest book at www.fdailybreeze.com/obits.

Remember many summer visits to Redondo Beach and taking Frankie and the rest of the kids to the beach - swimming pool and other places. He never complained- tho he did get cold sometimes. Still remember all 5 kids watching while Grandma got fitted for toe rings at Mr Ts at Redondo beach. ( still wear them.). Never take them off!!!!! Lv you all and Frankie. G

Frank, what can I say? I haven't talked to you or seen you in years. I thought about you today & found out that you had departed this earth. I'm crushed. Thank you for sharing laughs & smiles with me as teenagers. You will always be in my heart.

To Frankies family, I just want you all to know how much I love Frankie. I had the opportunity to attend and graduate with Frank at South High. 8 years after graduating I move to Lomita, and begin to shop at my neighborhood Albertson's. I walked by the meat department and I heard a voice behind the counter say, "Hey, you went to South!" I didn't recognize him until he had to describe himself as "Little Frankie". Of course I remembered him! For the next two years I was able to see Frank smiling behind the counter each week I stopped in. It was awesome getting to know him as we have matured. Today, when I went to buy my groceries, I had an empty feeling knowing that I wouldn't be able to see him anymore and ask him random questions about different cuts of meat. I drove home with wet eyes, thinking about my friend who has passed on. I hope that your family can find peace in your hearts. Heaven just gained one really good man. I'm so glad that he's happy and in peace. I love your guts Frankie!

I am saddened to learn of Frankie's passing. He was a student of mine all 4 years that he attended South High School. I will never forget his smile, sense of humor, and kindness. Just before he went on leave from Albertson's he saw me and we had a chance to talk. Even though it had been 10 years since I had last seen him, he was the same smiling, kind, and upbeat Frankie I remembered.

It was a pleasure watching Frankie develop from a little boy that would ride his big wheel to our front steps as fast as he could with his heart monitor on to the wonderful sweet man he became. The best thing about you Frankie is your love for the DODGERS :) Loved sharing the passion with you. We miss you already! Love to the entire famiy,

i haven't seen franko in about 5 years but worked with him at albertson's for about 3 and he was always my favorite dude in the whole store because of how naturally comforting his energy was. he was definitely one of those people who seem to have rays of light shining from their hearts and was always really positive and energetic. i'm really sorry for everyone's loss of this amazing person and i truly hope that you find solace in knowing that he was as genuinely caring, giving and loving as they come and i think that anyone who knew him (or even just met him!) would agree with that. RIP Franko, you are going to be missed by so many people.

Frank, what can I say other than you will be greatly missed... Your love towards others was unconditional! You'd let the world know how much you loved and cared for someone. If you weren't happy with something you'd turn everything around to make or be better. You were a great person at heart! I was so grateful that my sister had finally found someone to bring so much love and light in her life. Her eyes glistened and she couldn't help but smile when she thought, talked, or even looked at you. I had thought to myself they are meant for each other! She's so lucky to have found someone so great! Frank you had become part of our family and there wasn't an occasion where you weren't welcome, you were already part of the Garcia and Estrella family. You will always be part of it and all of us will hold a place for you in our hearts.. Thank you for coming into our lives. We love you frank! We will greatly miss you..

I will miss my big brother everyday for the rest of my life. He was a my best friend we have been through so much together. I find comfort in knowing that Frankie lived his life his way. He was happy doing what he did best, his spicy food reviews on youtube as the beloved reggaefrank09. We miss him but I know he will live on in our hearts. Rest in paradise my brother I love you.
