Marijan Grgas Obituary

Our loving husband and father Marijan Grgas passed away peacefully at home in Rancho Palos Verdes after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, December 2, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Dane (Brankica) and Marijan (Karen); grandsons, Anton, Dusan and Vlade; brother, Steve (Ljubica); sister and brothers-in-law, Josephine King (Mike), Maria Antolos (late Jerko), Anka Rossini (late Frane); and numerous other close relatives. Marijan was born on July 22, 1930 in Zablace, Croatia to loving parents, Dusan and Anna Grgas. He immigrated to San Pedro in 1956. He was a proud member of the ILWU, first as a longshoreman with Local 13 and later as a shipping clerk with Local 63. Visitation will be on Monday, December 6 from 4-8 p.m. at McNerney's Mortuary. A funeral Mass in his honor will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Holy Trinity Church, followed by entombment services at Green Hills Memorial Park. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would also like to thank the oncology department and home hospice staff at Kaiser Permanente for the excellent care and support given to our father during his illness.
