Robert White Obituary

Robert passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2010. After graduating from the University of Kansas in Aeronautical Engineering in 1946, Douglas Aircraft moved him to California to his unending delight. The last 32 years of his career as a manager design engineer were spent at Northrop Grumman where he retired in 1986. His life long love of sailing and boat design took root thereafter and he considered himself a very lucky man with a very lucky life. His marriage to his wife, Janet, in 1958, the love of his two children, Jeff and Molly, his 2 grandchildren, Daniela and Bobby; his sailboats, home, and dogs were his happiness. He was a 45 year resident of Palos Verdes Estates, a member of King Harbor Yacht Club, The Palos Verdes Breakfast Club, Tau Beta Pi and the National Maritime Association. Services will be held at St John Fisher Church at 1 PM Friday November 5. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity Care Hospice and The Alzheimer's Association. I'll always remember "Captain White" teaching me the basics of sailing on his Thunderbird 27 out of King Harbor when I was a boy. Still feed bad about dropping his jib pole overboard... God Bless
