Roy Meyer, (91) Obituary

Roy Meyer, long time resident of Lomita, died peacefully at his home on November 19, 2010. He was born and raised on a farm near Avoca, Nebraska on February 24, 1920 to George and Theresa Meyer. The second son of 10 children. He married Floy Whitworth on June 15, 1942. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska where he worked at the Martin Bomber Plant during the 2nd World War, later moving to Lomita, CA in 1948 to work at North American Rockwell Aircraft Plant in Los Angeles, until he retired after 35 years. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church and served as an usher for many years. He also was a member of the Holy Name Men's Society at church and enjoyed the Hi-Neighbor's Senior Club for 15 years. Roy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Floy; daughters, Sharyn and Carolyn; grandchildren, Edward, Teri, Eric, Jenny, Tammi and Michelle; great grandchildren, Heather, Bryce, Rory, Megan, Micheal, Jack, Mason, Nicholas, Ashton, Stephanie; great great grandchild Brayden; his sister, Loretta Linhardt; and brothers Merle, John, Carroll, James and Richard Meyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Theresa Meyer; son, Charles Roy Meyer; brothers, Donald, Hubert and Ralph Meyer. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church in Lomita on Tuesday November 23, at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
