Russell William "Bill" Collier

1924 - 2010

Russell William (Bill) Collier, born April 25, 1924, passed away unexpectedly on November 6 at his home in San Pedro. A World War II veteran who served on the USS Doyle in the invasion of Normandy. After the war he served for 20 years in the Los Angeles City Fire Department as a tillerman who drove ladders on a hook and ladder truck. After retirement, he spent many years traveling throughout the country and abroad with his now deceased wife, Annette. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl and son-in-law, Paul Stein; daughter, Dana and son-in-law, Bob Prickett; and daughter, Lisa Collier; grandchildren, Russ Stein, Mike and wife, Candy Stein, Tim and wife, Judy Prickett and Denise Prickett; and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Calley and Chad Stein. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at McNerney's Mortuary Chapel. Entombment will be private.
