Ruth Wallingford Obituary
November 11, 1913 - October 31, 2010
Born Ruth Marion Porter to Roy and Bessie Porter in Los Angeles, California. Preceded in death by Gwilym (William) Jones (1959) and Reid Wallingford (2010); brother, Edwin Porter; sisters, Dorothy Humphrey and Margarite Hibbard. Survived by her sons, Ronald Jones (Karin), Robert Jones (Judy); daughter, Glenys Wilbur (John); grandchildren, Alexis Jones Jewitt, Andrea Jones, Christopher Jones, Brandon Jones, Haley Wilbur Piazza and Nick Wilbur; great-grandchildren, Ethan Jewitt, Gianluca Piazza and Ashlynn Wilbur. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. Ruth attended Manual Arts High School with Gwilym and after their marriage in 1939; they both worked in the family business, Porter's Frozen Foods. Ruth married Reid Wallingford in 1962 and upon their moving to Ojai, they owned and operated the Ojai Frostie. Ruth, mom, nana and aunt will be remembered for her love of children, her beautiful singing voice and her giving, caring and nurturing heart, along with the patience equal to Job. Receiving her love and grace has enriched all our lives. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of The Gables and Gardens of Ojai, Dr. Maria Halvorson and Reverend Jeff Holland. The family requests that memorial gifts be directed to Ojai Presbyterian Church with footnote for children's ministry, 304 N. Foothill Rd., Ojai, CA 93023. Thanks Brad and Vickie for your kind thoughts and words. We remember those times fondly as well, even if you were in trouble with Reid. Mom, on the other hand, was used to boys having raised my brothers. Hope to see you again soon after all these years!

We're very sad to hear of Ruth and Reid's passing. Many are the great memories of when Vicki and I were growing up in Ojai and Ruth and Reid were sometimes like our second set of parents (especially when I'd do something wrong!). Thinking of the nights after "Fiddler" rehearsals at the Wallingfords, and many lazy afternoons at the Frostie really brings back some fond recollections.
Our condolences to Glenys and John and thier kids......hope we can see you soon and share some of the stories!
