Sharon Dexter Obituary

Sharon D. Dexter passed away September 26, 2010 at the age of 89. She was the second of six daughters born to Dr. and Mrs. B.Q. Dysart of Henry, Illinois. She graduated from The National College of Education in Illinois in 1943. Sharon started teaching at Vanport City, Oregon in the summer of 1943, where she met Rolbert R. Dexter. They were married in June, 1944 in Oceanside, California, where he was serving in the Navy. Sharon began teaching in Oceanside in 1944 then moved to Torrance in 1948, where she taught there as well as in Redondo Beach until retirement in 1981. She was also a 22 year volunteer at Torrance Memorial Hospital. Sharon is survived by her husband, one sister, two sons, one daughter, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at First Christian Church of Torrance at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 with interment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park. I had Sharon as my 1st grade teacher at Franklin Elementary in Redondo Beach. My mom called and told me about the obituary. So sorry to hear. My thoughts are with the family.

I lived down the street from your house in the 50's & 60's, Monterey & Hickory. I saw you mom once in awhile at Torrance Memorial Hosipal. I'm so sorry for your loss, I lossed my dad two years ago. My thoughs and prayers are with you.
