Valentin Quintana, Sr.

February 14, 1925 -
June 16, 2012

On June 16, 2012, at the age of 87, our beloved Papito went home to be with Jesus. He went to glory surrounded by his family. He is survived by his precious wife of 61 years Ana Luisa Quintana; his daughter, Anna Gutierrez; his son, Valentin Quintana, Jr.; his grandson, Kurt Gutierrez; and daughter-in-law, Yeni Quintana. Papito was born on Valentine's Day 1925 in the small town of San Miguel De Los Banos, Cuba. In 1951 he married his lifelong wife, Ana. In 1962 Papito had the foresight and courage to send his children from communist Cuba to the United States. Three months later they were granted a visa and joined 6 and 9-year-old Ana and Valentin Jr. in Florida. After a short stay in Florida the family moved to Los Angeles. Since 1968 he lived in the South Bay and for the last 34 years in Torrance. Although blind and limited in caring for his basic needs, Papito never complained, persevered to the end and courageously ran the race marked for him. We are forever grateful for his unconditional love, dedication to his family and his example of perseverance. We thank the lord for lending him to us for 87 years. We miss and love you Papito but we know you have your new body and eyes and are in the presence of our Lord Jesus. Te queremos mucho Papito y sabemos que te veremos algun dia. Hasta luego por ahora.
