Wanda Knopinski Obituary

Wanda Knopinski of Boulder, Colorado died on October 25, 2017 at the age of 92. Wanda was born in Elizabethtown, Illinois to Charles and Amy (Wall) Frailey. Preceding her in death was her daughter, MaryAnn DeSautels of Longmont, Colorado and her sister, Geneva Wootton (101 years old) of Elizabethtown, Illinois who died three weeks after Wanda. Wanda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Norbert; daughters Charlene DeSautels, of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Julie Rogers of West Palm Beach, Florida and four grandchildren. Also her step-daughter Barbara Bernhard, step-sons Jack, Joe and Eric Knopinski and four step-grandchildren. Wanda attended St. Mary's school for girls run by the Sisters of Charity at Leavenworth, KS where she majored in music. She learned to play the pipe organ and was the Organist at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, CO for 25 years. She also had many recitals throughout the years. Her love for opera and classical music continued with frequent trips to Santa Fe and Central City which she enjoyed. Wanda loved to travel and enjoyed many anniversary trips to Hawaii and several trips to Europe with her husband, Norb. She worked as an administrative assistant at the University of Colorado in the Math department for 34 years. A memorial service for the family was held at Crist Mortuary in Boulder, CO on October 29, 2017. Interment will be at Green Mountain Cemetery in the near future. Donations may be made in her name to the World Wildlife Fund or similar organizations of your choice.
