Raymond Wright Obituary

Raymond Wright Jr., TILLSON - Raymond Wright Jr., of Springtown Road died Saturday Jan. 1, 2011 at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck. He was 85 years old. Mr. Wright was born in Wawarsing Sept. 1, 1925. A son of the late Raymond Sr. and Maude Coddington Wright. He was a lifelong area resident and had worked as a contractor in the construction business for many years. After retiring from the construction business he later worked at the New Paltz Golf Course. Mr. Wright was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 1219 in Tillson and the Joseph C. Hassett Post 686 Veterans of Foreign Wars in High Falls. He was also a life and social member of the Tillson Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Keator Wright, three daughters, Linda Nekola of Ormand Beach, Fla., Sharon Albright of High Falls, Cindy Christensen of Stone Ridge, three sons, Stanley Wright of Stone Ridge, Raymond L. Wright of Tillson, and Brian Wright of Glouster, Va. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A son, Gary Wright died in 1974, a granddaughter, Lori Dawn Wright died in 1985. Three brothers, Robert, Albert, and Donald Wright all died previously. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. Rev Nickolas Miles and Rev. Richard Wright will officiate. Cremation will be at Wiltwyck Cemetery in Kingston. Inurnment with full military honors will be in the spring at the Rosendale Plains Cemtery. Rosendale-Tillson Post 1219 American Legion will conduct services Wednesday evening at 7:15 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Rosendale-Tillson Post 1219 American Legion, PO Box 103, Tillson, NY 12486.
