Douglas M. Larkin STONE RIDGE- Douglas M. Larkin, 45, Doug Larkin succumbed to his long battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and passed away on June 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family and friends in Stone Ridge, New York. Doug was the young age of 45 years old, born May 7th, 1972, in Lincolnshire, Illinois the youngest son of Donald P. and Ruth A. Larkin. Doug graduated from Deerfied High School, and did his undergraduate studies at Muskinghum College, where he graduated in 1994 with a major in Political Science. Doug was a member of his beloved fraternity Kappa Sigma, where he served as its President. Following graduation from Muskingjum, Doug headed to Washington DC, and helped to craft the message for many familiar names in the political arena. Doug was a Deputy Press Secretary for Dick Lugar’s Presidential bid. Doug was Press Secretary for Texas Congressman Kevin Brady, and later served as a Senior Communications Advisor to Asa Hutchinson in his bid for Governor of Arkansas. Doug also co-founded the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) with his good friend Linda Reinstein, and together ADAO has been successful in passing legislation banning asbestos from a surprising number of everyday products. Doug is and was a loving father and husband. Doug loved and cherished his family and friends, loved playing hockey, soccer and baseball as a young man, and golf, and taking in a baseball game later in life. Doug loved wine and fine food with friends. The individual events are too numerous to recount, but if you were there, you know who you are. Doug made the most of his brief time with us, and we will miss him dearly. Doug is preceded in death by his father-in-law John Tillson, and is survived by his loving wife Lisa, and son Alex. Doug is also survived by his parents Donald and Ruth Larkin, brothers David, (Dale) Dwight, (Renee) nieces and nephews Audrey, Ryan, Conner, Grace, Quinn. Parents-in-law Susan Tillson, Bruce and Marcy Decker, Lisa’s brother Chris (Theresa) Decker, nieces Emily and Madison, grandparents Betty Stokes and John and Ruth Decker. Services will be held Saturday, June 17th at 1 p.m. Christ the King Church, 3021 State Route 213, Stone Ridge, N.Y. 12484.
