Edward Kulesa Obituary

Edward J. Kulesa Jr. EsperanceEdward J. Kulesa Jr., 75, of Sanitarium Road, Town of Esperance, died at his home Wednesday, January 21st under the loving care of his family and hospice. Ed was born February 25, 1939 in South Hampton, Long Island, a son of Edward J. Kulesa Sr. and Elizabeth Betty (Lepianka). He graduated from Schoharie High School, class of 1958, and enlisted in the US Army. He served his country for nearly three years as a combat engineer. Upon his honorable discharge, Ed attended Delhi Ag & Tech and in 1963, began his long career with NYS Department of Transportation as an Assistant Project Engineer. He worked on many roads and bridges throughout the Capital District in Region #1 before his retirement in 1995. After retiring, he worked as an inspector for various construction companies including McDonald Engineering. Mr. Kulesa served on the Board of Assessment Review for many years until leaving in 2014 and also served as the first Code Enforcement officer for the Town of Esperance. He was a former communicant of St. Joseph's RC Church in Schoharie. He is a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima RC Church in Delanson and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Delanson. Ed enjoyed woodworking and operating the family farm for many years on Sanitarium Road. Ed is survived by his wife, Ruth (Hackett) Kulesa, whom he married October 19, 1963; three children, John (Linda) Kulesa of Valrico, FL, Stephen Kulesa of Central Bridge and Jennifer Kulesa (Scott Kelly) of Esperance; two granddaughters, Skyler and Trista; one sister, Diane F. Kennedy of Port Chester, NY; and a niece, Elisa; along with several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Frank in 1993 and Richard in 1999. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main Street, Schoharie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 24th at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, 1735 Alexander Road, Delanson. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ed to: Catskill Area Hospice, 125 Granite Dr. Suite #1, Cobleskill, NY 12043 OR to the Sloansville Valley Cemetery Association, c/o Henry Bray, Treasurer, 139 VanDerwerken Road, Central Bridge, NY 12035.
