GEORGE GARGIULO Obituary

Mr. George R. Gargiulo, age 72, of Gloversville, died Tuesday morning, April 26, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. He was born April 24, 1939 in Gloversville, the son of the late Albert Gargiulo and Frances Frank Gargiulo. He was a 1957 graduate of Gloversville High School. George was president of the former Gloversville Leather Corp. which became Pan American Tanning Corp. He later was owner of Cougar Leather Corp. and was also a salesman for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. George was a member of Sacred Heart Church (now the Church of the Holy Spirit) and had been a member of Pine Brook Golf Club, the Moose Lodge, Foresters Lodge and Elks Lodge. He enjoyed all sports, including golf, horse racing and card playing. He was married on August 28, 1958 to MaryAnn Studenic who survives. George and MaryAnn shared 52 years of marriage. Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah L. Gargiulo Deming and Rebecca Gargiulo Bakyta of Gloversville; two brothers, Donald Gargiulo (Gail) of California and Richard Gargiulo (Patricia) of Saratoga Springs; three grandchildren, Skyler Deming, Caroline Bakyta and Amanda Bakyta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Albert Gargiulo. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a Prayer Service will take place 9:15 a.m. Friday, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main Street. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.
