DR. ROBERT E. KASPER

ELGIN - Dr. Robert E. Kasper, 91, of Elgin passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Highland Oaks, Elgin. He was born July 23, 1925 in Lancaster, WI the son of Joseph F. and Anna C. Klein Kasper. He was a graduate of Elmhurst College and Eden Seminary. He started his ministry in 1953 and served churches in Slinger, WI, Fairview Heights, IL, St. Louis, MO, Barrington, IL and then Elgin. He served on numerous church and community boards including, DuBois Center, AARP National Committee on Aging, Hospital Board of Ethics and Rotary International both local and National. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Groggel Kasper whom he married in September 9, 1950, 2 daughters, Kathleen (Mark) Slown of Ishpeming, MI and Sharon (Bert) Adams of Hoffman Estates, 4 grandchildren, Corin (Jake) Gallagher, Sam (Kristin) Slown, Karmen Slown and Bethany Adams, 2 great grandchildren, Lily and Braden Slown. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helena Cummer and 3 brothers, Armien, Lawrence and George Kasper. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 40W720 Plank Rd. Elgin, IL 60124., Elgin. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be private at St. Paul Church Cemetery, Barrington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to DuBois Center, Eden Seminary or the charity of one's choice. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is assisting the family.
