CARL K. SCHMIDT III

Carl K. Schmidt III formerly of Lisle Carl K. Schmidt III, 78, a resident of Romeoville, IL, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Community Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Naperville, IL. He was born June 19, 1934, in Chicago, IL. He was the beloved husband of Priscilla Schmidt (nee Mohler), whom he married Sept. 17, 1983; loving father of Susan (Jim) Gobble of Moorpark, CA and Jeffery Schmidt of California, loving stepfather of Beth Long of Lisle, IL, Cheri (Patrick) Lee of Romeoville, Brad (Kathleen) Long of Lake Zurich, IL and Scott (Barb) Long of Naperville; adored grandfather of Justine Gobble, Kyle, Cameron and Morgan Long, Aaron, Brandon and Jordan Lee; devoted son of the late Carl K. II and Elizabeth Schmidt; dear brother of Victoria Galanti of Seattle, WA, Carolyn Val-Schmidt of California and Frederick (Vivian) Schmidt of Charlottesville, VA; and fond uncle of Alexa and Rebecca. Carl grew up in Elmhurst, IL, was a 1952 graduate of York High School and graduated with a from Monmouth College, Monmouth, IL with a bachelor's degree. Carl owned and operated a Money Mailer franchise for many years and was former president of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed writing poems and reading. Memorial visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Road (corner of Routes 30 and 59), Plainfield.
