TIM GRUENSFELDER Obituary

MOUNT PROSPECT - Tim Gruensfelder age 22 surrounded by his family. Beloved son of Denise (nee Blasingame) and Bob; his caring siblings Joe and Danny; cherished grandson of Joan and Robert Gruensfelder and the late Betty and Bob Blasingame; his large loving extended family, including his many aunts, uncles, cousins; and awesome friends. Tim was an inspirational student at St. Louis University, a proud alum of St. Viator High School and St. Raymond. He impacted the many lives he touched through his strength, determination and perseverance. He was driven by the great support and love extended to him from family, friends and compassionate medical staff from Lurie's Children's Hospital and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. The medical care and encouragement Tim received from many allowed him to gracefully perform the work the Lord intended. Tim taught us to never let obstacles stand in our way, never give up, and cherish loved ones. His example and love will live on in the lives of the many people he touched. We welcome you to celebrate Tim's life at the visitation, Sunday January 7, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Raymond de Penafort Church, Elmhurst Rd., (Rt. 83) & Lincoln St., Mt. Prospect, IL 60056 and Monday January 8, 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Raymond de Penafort Church. Dear Gruensfelder family, We will always treasure and remember the happy times we talked with Tim when we came to SLU to visit Alex. Alex shared a closeness to Tim through his years at SLU and taught Alex more about life than we could have hoped for from a friend. We will be forever grateful for Alex meeting Tim freshman year in the dorm and the beautiful friendship that continued through these 4 years. May God bless you all and watch over you in the days, weeks, and months ahead and know that our family is praying for you always during this most difficult time. Thank you for sharing your son and brother with so many people. Tim truly is God's disciple here on earth and now in heaven. God Bless all of you, Chris, Vicki, Alex and Bradley Mueller

I had the great pleasure of teaching Tim economics in the fall of 2014. I fondly remember his work ethic and cheerful disposition. As the years passed we would catch up in the hallways between classes. He was a joy to teach and St. Louis University is better for having him as a student.

I remember him (he was Timmy then) as a sweet kid who played drums in the jazz band at St. Raymond School and then later seeing him at St. Viator also.

His and his family's courage has been remarkable. Best wishes.

Dear Tim's Parents:

I am shocked and saddened to hear that Tim passed away. He was in my Finance class at SLU; he was smart and so funny. He truly was the kind of student that makes teaching a pleasure. I am so sorry for your loss, but I am glad I had Tim in my class.

Prayers,

Denise, Bob, Joe and Danny -

Tim will be remembered as an extraordinary individual who accomplished more in 22 years than most accomplish far beyond that. He touched so many lives and serves as a fine example of how we should strive to live all of ours.

Our deepest sympathies to you.
