JUNE SIMONSON Obituary

June C. Simonson of Hoffman Estates The family of June C. Simonson (nee Sjoquist), 82, will begin seeing friends at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, until the time of services at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 W. Higgins Road, Schaumburg. Born June 19, 1928, in Iron Mountain, Mich., the daughter of Esther (nee Tonn) and Joseph Sjoquist, she passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 27, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Port Barrington, following a lengthy illness. June grew up in rural Homestead, Wis. On June 26, 1948, she married Arthur W. Simonson. The couple moved to Illinois and made their home in Hoffman Estates. June was a homemaker and worked in the dean's office at Fremd High School in School District 211, Palatine until retirement. June and Art enjoyed golfing and traveling. After their retirement they moved to Roscoe, Ill., but spent winters at their home in Port Richey, Fla. June was a lifelong member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Schaumburg, where she at one time was president of the Women of the Church. She was a member of the choir for many years and an active member of her women's circle. Some of her dearest friends are those that she met through her church. Preceded in death by her husband, Art, in 2005, June is survived by her children, Laurie (Lew) Hart of Loudon, Tenn., Lynn (Keith) Vogeler of Port Barrington, Scott (Fonda) Simonson of Clifton Park, N.Y. and Steve (Kim) Simonson of Marengo; her grandchildren, Mathew Hart, Meghan Hart, Kenny Alden, Amelia Simonson, Danika Simonson, James Simonson, Annie Vogeler, Hayden Simonson, Sarah Simonson and Emma Vogeler; three sisters, Lois Nelson of Rockford, Charlene Huber of Machesny Park and Marlene (Don) Wixtrom of Republic, Mich.; and her sister-in-law, Darlene (Robert) Grundlund of Norway, Mich. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674, or Alexian Brothers Hospice, 1515 E.
