Larry was a special friend. Our paths would have crossed a lot more had we not moved to Indiana when Marge and he returned to Chicago. He passed before my spouse and I moved back over five years ago. His vision of a better political system lives on in spite of the setbacks it has received since the 2016 election. We need to continue to hold on to and pursue that vision.

My deepest sympathies. Larry was a fun guy and some of my fondest memories while working on Senator Stevenson's staff is due to his being there.

I always will be grateful to Larry. I met him first in the 1970 Stevenson-for-Senate campaign. At a time when many of my fellow college students were deeply discouraged, Larry showed me how to fight the good fight through the political system. When I was an intern on Capitol Hill, he looked out for me. Years later, we reconnected with both of us in the nonprofit sector. Larry was doing great work at the Joyce Foundation, and I was a new arrival as President at the Chicago History Museum. Larry was a terrific counselor and friend -- and a lover of history to boot. Chicago has lost one of its stars.
