SAMUEL H. YOUNG

GLENVIEW - Samuel H. Young of Glenview, IL and Marco Island, FL, passed away on Saturday, September 23rd 2017 at home in Glenview. He was the loving husband of Bonnie for 67 years; father of Elisabeth, Samuel, Jr. and Bonnie Ellen; "Bompa" to ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Born in Casey IL on December 26th 1922, his studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign were interrupted by World War II. Young volunteered for the Paratroops, serving in the 13th Airborne Division during the central European campaign. He returned to U of I and completed his law degree in 1948. His private securities-focused practice led to roles as IL Securities Commissioner and Asst. Sec of State, as well as V.P. - Finance for American Hospital Supply. In 1973, Young was elected to the House of Representatives for the 93rd Congress, serving the IL 10th Congressional District for a single term as a Republican. Among his various volunteer activities, he served on the board of the Children's Care Foundation from 1967 to 2005. Services will be private.
